Databases

A database is an organised collection of information, typically maintained in digital form.

Databases maintained by an organisation can include:

  • internal portfolios
  • customer lists
  • projects / work in progress
  • packages of useful information about an organisation

These are all valuable intellectual assets.

Databases may be employed to create value for a business in a variety of ways, such as:

A good intellectual asset management strategy will account for all databases within the organisation, their usage and their value.
